Why Is Only One of My Cats Kittens Moving

You may be worried if you see that your cat is only moving one of her babies. Some concerns can be reduced by having an understanding of feline behavior. Several things might be causing this to occur:

1. Instincts of Mothers

Cats have an innate need to safeguard their kittens. If a mother cat senses that one of her kittens is at risk or is the one with whom she has the strongest instinctual bond, she may decide to relocate it to a safer or cozier area.

2. Frailty or Disease

A mother cat may occasionally remove a sicker or weaker kitten from the group. She may feel compelled to separate the kitten for further care or to keep the other kittens from crowding it, but this behavior is instinctive. See a veterinarian if you think your pet may be unwell.

3. Room and Coziness

A mother may only shift one kitten to make more room for the others if the nesting place is small. She could be attempting to make the most of her brood's surroundings because cats frequently seek protection and comfort.

4. Choosing

Mothers of kittens can indeed have preferences for particular kittens. If one kitten stands out—either in terms of beauty or personality—she may be more likely to hold that one near.

5. Human Communication

If you've been handling kittens, the mother could feel the need to move them for safety if you've been handling them. Because cats have an acute awareness of their environment, if they sense human interaction, they may feel compelled to establish a barrier or isolation.

How Should You Proceed?

- Observe: Keep an eye on her actions and the kittens' general health.

- See a Vet: If the kitten being transported appears ill or if you observe any symptoms of illness, get veterinarian care.

- Establish a Secure Area: Make sure the mother and her kittens have a peaceful, secure, and cozy nesting space.

A mother cat transferring one kitten is usually not a reason for concern. By being aware of her behavior, you can better assist her through this crucial period. Prioritize her happiness and the comfort of her kittens at all times, and you two will travel this wonderful path together!
